Mechanical Engineer

Design vehicle parts, take them to our own rig, and break them until they hold.

About Mothium

Mothium builds professional electric vehicles for urban logistics and the agents that run them. Synapse ships with every vehicle and today it runs maintenance, aftersales, routing and cost across real customer fleets. It is not a demo. It is operating.

Qué harás

A vehicle certified to EN 17860 that lives seven years on the street sets the brief for you. Kerbs, ramps, loading bays, a driver in a hurry and a load that is never where the drawing said it would be. Design for a clean load case and the part comes back to you from the field.

You will design chassis, steering, transmission and body parts, and you will be the one who takes them to our test rig. You draw it, we build it, we break it, and within weeks you know why it failed.

The hard part is not the CAD. It is holding three constraints at once: a part that passes the standard, a part a supplier can make in short series, and a part a workshop can replace without dismantling half the vehicle. Someone has to arbitrate between them. That is you.

Our vehicles report their operation back through Synapse, so you get real loads, real duty cycles and real failures from fleets working every day. You design against what the fleet actually did last month. And because we sit on CEN/TC 333 and UNE, a criterion you argue for can end up in the standard the sector uses.

Responsibilities

  • Design parts and assemblies for chassis, steering, transmission and body, from concept to production drawings.
  • Run test rig campaigns: define the load case, measure it, and document why it failed.
  • Take designs through to manufacture with suppliers and the assembly line.
  • Validate against EN 17860 and prepare the evidence that supports type approval.
  • Close the loop with fleet telemetry and warranty data, and feed real duty cycles into the next revision.
  • Design for service: parts a workshop can replace, with the spare parts catalogue in mind.

Qué buscamos

  • Two or more years in mechanical design on products made in series, not one-off prototypes.
  • Fluent CAD and sound judgement on tolerances, materials and manufacturing process.
  • Experience taking a part from drawing to supplier, and answering for what comes back.
  • Comfortable in a workshop. Here we test physically, we do not only simulate.
  • Based in Seville or willing to relocate.

Counts in your favour

  • FEA, and correlating a simulation against a physical test.
  • Vehicle homologation: EN 17860, L-category or machinery directives.
  • Sheet metal, welded tubular structures or composites in short series.

You will fit here if

  • You want to see your part on the street in weeks. That speed cuts both ways, because mistakes arrive in weeks too.
  • Here decisions freeze at the production run. Once a series is committed your improvement waits for the next one, and that frustrates a lot of good engineers.
  • You are comfortable owning a part end to end, including the call to the supplier when it does not fit.
  • You would rather argue a criterion in a standards committee than accept one you think is wrong.

Qué ofrecemos

  • Our own test rig and the freedom to use it, with no queue for an external lab.
  • Telemetry from professional fleets in real operation, so you design against measured loads.
  • A seat in the engineering team that takes part in CEN/TC 333 and UNE.
  • 100% on-site work in Seville.

What the process looks like

  1. Intro call with our team, 30 minutes.
  2. Technical conversation about parts you have designed and what failed on them.
  3. A design review on a real part of ours. Discussed, not submitted.
  4. A day in Seville with the team, the workshop and the test rig.

These steps can be completed in ten days.
